Waukesha was known as "Spring
City" because of it's famous spring water, which used to be bottled and sold
throughout the country. The design on the burgee resembles a spring and is the
Greek symbol for water.
Our Burgee was designed in 1957 by Fay Steen, who along with her husband Garf
Steen, were active members when the club was formed.
It was know then as the "Waukesha Outboard Fleet." The club's name was
changed to "Waukesha Cruise Fleet" in September of 1975, as more of the boats
were being powered by inboard/outboard type motors and the primary aim of the
club was "Family Cruising."
In 2000, the Burgee was updated. The
WCF initials were added vertically to the left of the spring. It was felt
by the club that this would enhance the recognition of the Burgee.
